"The hotel is beautiful! The entrance, lounge area and rooms are spectacular and well kept. We were a family of 4 and stayed in the 4 bed room. The onsite onsen is also a must do. There is also a guest lounge area in the basement with drinks and snacks that we found useful. The previous reviews about the smoking smell in the elevator and hallways are on point. The smoking room is behind the check in desk , a small room and they open the door to clean it up … the fire station across the street...

The only downside was that the train station was a bit of a walk in a crowded area in the afternoon with luggage. It was fine for morning departure. "Our stay in the room with the private hot spring bath was more than just a nights stay but an experience on its own. With the room being at the foot of the mountain overlooking the river, theres no shortage of breaktaking scenery. The unbelievable full service dinner and breakfast served and presented on beautiful tableware was artwork. A quiet, private and relaxing experience that made my wife and I feel like royalty. Walking distance from multiple local shops and other activities, Ryotei Rangetsu is one of the reasons we will be returning to Kyoto."
