We arrived 11pm after a concert at the Coop Arena my son had been in and needed to leave the hotel at 3.30am for our early flight.
I booked the Clayton for ease - we knew it would be a very short stay but thought we were paying for a high standard of room just to make things a bit easier.
We arrived and had to park at the far end of the long stay car park as there was no room in the short stay. We checked in and got to the room and the card did not work the lights as it was broken. It was 11pm, and I was desperate to get in and get sorted so my 5 and 9 year old could have a quick shower before bed. We rang down to reception to send someone up to fix it. We all waited in the dark room with our extremely tired kids (the room was freezing as all windows were open and aircon on the lowest setting despite it being below freezing outside) Nobody came and my husband eventually managed to fix it. We got the kids in the shower and the shower drain was blocked so the water didn't drain, it was disgusting as filthy water also came up from the plug. The sink has a big chunk out of it also and the bathroom generally not very clean. Definitely not what I would expect after paying £120 for the room and £30 for car parking for our 4hr stay!
We will be going back to the budget airport hotel next time where we've never experienced any of these issues.
