The place was wonderful from the staff, to the location on the island, to the cleanliness. We loved that even though the place is old (as everything is on the island) the rooms are updated and bright and comfortable. it had everything we wanted in a relaxing place.
The staff is amazing. We had such a wonderful experience staying there and can’t wait to visit again next year. Our meals were so so good!! Thankyou to Joseph and Keith in your dining room, our experience there definitely made it clear….we will be back next year!! Thankyou to all your staff 🥳☺️
Unique turn of century hotel that has been fully updated for a comfortable and enjoyable island experience. The staff was very accommodating, the rooms were comfortable, but rather small, and the hotel and rooms were very clean. We didn’t have a chance to use the amenities as we were only there one night but there were plenty to choose from.
We enjoyed sitting on the porch playing Farkle. The Ice House was also lovely...great milk shakes! Our 1 bedroom suite was wonderful. My only suggestion is to put a hook in the bathroom to hang wet towels. Great hotel and staff.
We only stayed there for one night. The location was very convenient, and the room was very clean. Overall, we liked this hotel a lot for the price we paid on Labor Day. If we had stayed just one day earlier, I would have had to pay triple what I paid. A very good deal!
Such a great hotel. We had never been to Mackinac before and really loved this hotel and the location. There is a bike rental right out front, so you can easily rent a bike and ride around the island. It was really close to all the other things we wanted to do on the island. We enjoyed the hot tub too. That was nice after a long day of walking around. Overall we loved our stay and will definitely come back!
Enjoyed the location, pool, coffee, hot tub and fire pits.
Overpriced
Room layout wasn't conducive to two occupants.
Excessive light came into the room at night from the hallway.
From check-in to check-out, the Island House was amazing. We stayed in a room with a view (rm 300). The room was big, bright & beautiful. The staff was always extremely kind & ready to help in any way. We loved the location to town. This was our 2nd vacation on the island & it was magical.
Location and staff were great!!The room
Was quite small for the price paid!! I’ve traveled the world since 1972 and am familiar with older structures and small rooms!! The room was clean and everything worked!! I had to stand on my bed to change the air conditioner temperature and air flow!! Don’t recommend this type of room for older people!! Great breakfast staff!!!
This was the cutest place. The rooms are bright and cheery, clean, and the location was perfect! Close to the shops, a beautiful view from the porch near the water and bike rentals right there on property. 10/10. There were a lot of stairs within the hallway where our room was, but it was not an issue for us.
We enjoyed our stay at Island House as it was centrally located. Shepler’s ferry transported our luggage to the hotel for us and we lined up for our luggage to be picked up and transported back to the ferry when we left the island. Very nice service to have so you didn’t have to transport your own luggage or get a horse drawn taxi. Enjoyed sitting out on the front porch rocking chairs in the morning and the front lawn chairs in the evening by the fire pit looking out over the bay. The bike rental in front of the hotel was also a plus. Hotel staff was friendly. The only drawback we incurred was low water pressure in our shower.
The Island House was an amazing place for my family. We had a suite so my in laws could stay with us. The food, room, and pool were amazing! Staying on the island can be a lot of work, but they made it effortless. Would highly recommend!
