Wonderful, quirky b&b, really nice rooms & lovely themed room for kids. Roger and his team went out of their way for us, with tasty home cooked food and overall friendliness. Couldn’t fault a thing 😀

We enjoyed a very warm welcome of the lovely host Roger. The family room is perfect with kids, they love the cuddly toys and the decoration. We all slept very well, including our dog.

Such a wonderful gem hidden in the Normandy countryside! Owner George is delightful and fun, gave us a warm welcome. We felt right at home, actually wish we could live in a place like this. Rustic yet comfortable. Great food. Very calm and charming surroundings. You'll love it! Also great for families with a few chickens roaming around. Don't hesitate, go to La Merveille and enjoy!

We stayed here for one night after arriving earlier in Cherbourg. The property was easily found using a sat nav. The owner, Roger, was very friendly and welcoming. Our room was clean and comfortable with refreshments available. Having asked prior to our arrival, we had a fantastic 3 course evening meal expertly prepared and presented by his young chef Brenda. Breakfast in the morning was a continental offering with the option of freshly cooked bacon and scrambled eggs. Everything was spot on. We would definitely return if our travels bring us back this way.

Erstmal möchten wir uns bedanken für den tollen Aufenthalt den Roger uns in seinem tollen Zuhause bereitet hat. Gerne haben wir das Angebot angenommen und bei Roger zu Abend gegessenen. Wir haben mehr bekommen als wir erwartet haben. Das Essen war super lecker! Leider habe ich es versäumt nach dem Rezept zu fragen für das leckere Dessert. Auch das Frühstück war mehr als ausreichend viel mehr als wir essen konnten. Das Zimmer war wundervoll vorgewärmt so das wir uns sofort super wohl gefühlt haben. Im Wohnzimmer brannte sogar der Kamin. Mittlerweile konnte ich auch den Text übersetzen von den Informationen die im Zimmer lagen um mehr zu erfahren von Rogers Geschichte und seiner wundervollen Unterkunft. Vielen Dank lieber Roger für die tolle Zeit und ganz liebe grüße nochmal an die liebe Köchin! Grüße aus Koblenz Helga und Jörg. Wir werden sicher nochmal mit der ganzen Familie wieder kommen.

Nécessite une importante rénovation générale

Roger, le propriétaire, est très aimable et serviable. Le petit-déjeuner est bon et copieux. Le repas du soir qu'il est possible ( pas obligatoire ) de prendre est bon. Cependant: la photo laissant imaginer une superbe terrasse-piscine d'un établissement luxueux est trompeuse; l'ensemble de l'établissement est certes propre, mais globalement modeste, vieillissant, et nécéssite une importante et générale rénovation. La qualité de la salle de bain (chambre n°2) en particulier n'est pas à un niveau attendu: cordon de main-douche fuyard (pourtant facile à remplacer), eau chaude longue à venir (on a abandonné de pouvoir prendre une douche chaude dès le deuxième jour), et l'évacuation des WC est insuffisante (pas de pente d'évacuation, donc maintien des matières et du papier dans la cuvette). Joints de fenêtre vieillis devant être remplacés. Le propriétaire est sympathique, on y mange bien, il y a un beau potentiel dans cette demeure, mais cela nécessite un important travail de rénovation générale.

A disappointing stay

La Merveille had a comfortable bed, a shower that sprayed water in all directions and breakfast was not up to my expectations. The pastries were squashed and looked unappetizing and my mug had a large crack in it.

Séjour reposant dans un lieu authentique

Bref séjour mais accueil très sympathique. Roger est à l'écoute, très agréable et reste disponible. Le gite est situé dans un lieu paisible entourée de verdure. Cette bâtisse avec ces boiseries, son plancher en bois et sa cheminée a gardé son caractère authentique. Les lieux sont propres et la literie confortable. Le petit déjeuner est copieux et le dîner très bon. Tous les ingrédients sont réunis pour passer un séjour reposant.

Séjour sympathique mais quelques déconvenues

Roger est un hôte très sympathique et aux petits soins ! Cependant la piscine n'était pas utilisable alors que cela faisait partie des plus qui nous avait fait choisir ce gîte. En discutant avec Roger, nous avons appris que normalement il était secondé de 3 personnes supplémentaires et que c'est pour cela qu'il ne pouvait non plus assurer la restauration le soir, nous comprenons la crise sanitaires a laissé des traces. Le jardin est très agréable. Je terminerai en ajoutant que la bâtisse est très belle et plein de charme mais que comme toute maison ancienne, l'isolation est très légère et lorsque la chambre attenante est occupée, on entend beaucoup les voisins.
