Just so everyone knows, this guy meant 'manager' and that would be me. If anyone is rude and arrogant and scares female staff then I will not let them stay - even if they have paid. Having a booking or even paying does not give anyone the right to be a prick. All guests, especially females, need to feel safe and secure at the Arthouse, and I will not apologise for refusing someone to stay - if they scare the female staff, what will they do to guests?

Thanks so much for taking the time to rate and review us, even though we would prefer it to be a higher rating! :-) Just so everyone knows, we are a backpacker hostel, not a cheap hotel. So please arrive at the Arthouse with accurate expectations of excellent friendly service, great fellow guests, lots of information, but basic accommodation.

Thanks so much for the comments on cleanliness! And my own personal comments - it is very easy to help when I love what I do and 'work for' lovely people (you, our guests!). Much appreciated.

To anyone reading this - we are a backpacker hostel, we are not a cheap hotel or cottage/cabin (and good luck finding comparable prices). If you stay with us you should judge us as a backpacker hostel. Punishing us because you wanted a hotel is not fair, and making up stories to make yourself feel better is not fair. Especially, leaving an anonymous bad review does not help in any way. And leading your title with the comment 'Never stay here' should make you feel ashamed. 'Disappointing stay' is fair enough from your perspective, but an anonymous direction to others to avoid our hostel is just plain amoral - who are you to be judge and jury in this life?

The reception hours are clearly posted on every website as 9am - 1pm & 2pm - 6pm. Staff are usually spotted at reception in case you are unsure where to find them.

Leaving an anonymous review without any comments does not help us improve the hostel. If we don't know what room you were in, or what your thoughts are about the Arthouse, we can't interpret a simple rating. After your next stay in a hotel or backpackers, please help them by providing more info. And please email us directly so we can improve.

Yes, we do have stairs and no lift. All of our private rooms are up 1 flight of stairs. We do try to make that clear in the room descriptions. It is a good thing that you point this out so that people have a better understanding of the Arthouse, and thanks for the great rating!
