The Buttery Hotel

8/10 Good
"It's a lovely hotel in a listed building so no lift just winding stairs so it's probably not for people with limited mobility or vast amounts of luggage although the manager did get a member of staff to carry my case to my room while I was checking in. The stairs aside, it was clean and the staff were really friendly. It's right in the centre of Oxford, so is handy for all the city centre shops, restaurants and museums. Although there is no room for a restaurant the hotel has negotiated a discount in the next door cafe (which does a great full English Breakfast) and also a nearby Italian restaurant for dinner."

"Location was great - 5 mins walk to Christ Church and the rest of all the stuff you want to get to in central Oxford. The free car park was a real bonus. A shame that there is no breakfast (even through there was a photo of a breakfast buffet on the site when we booked). Let's be honest, for the price this is not going to be a luxury hotel (I've stayed in plenty of those), but this was clean, the area of town felt very safe, and the lady who checked us in was super polite and helpful. The room itself was clean, the bedding was as good as any nice hotel. Some noise from other rooms but no worse than any place. I'll be using it again if I have to return to central Oxford and I don't want to pay for luxury. Only downside - we were on the third floor. I don't mind carrying my case up two flights of narrow stairs, but some might not be able to."
