"While close to town center getting there requires a walk up a very steep hill--not suitable for old people. The hotel was helpful in terminating our stay after one day. A well placed hotel for younger people requiring a basic hotel. Breafast was good. Evening menu should be avoided."

"Heating in the initial room was not able to be turned on. No equivalent room was available. I was told I would have to pay for an upgrade or stay in a freezing cold room. Finally, 2 hours later, I was advised I would be moved to another room at no additional cost. This should have been athe immediate and unquestioning solution. Very disappointing. "Wes re a couple and stayed for one night only as we had a course in Colchester the next day. Pleasant stay, breakfast very well served, staff helpful, location very convenient. We had an accessible room just noticed the shower curtains a bit dirty but all the rest was in perfect condition. Car park is paid for 8£ per night."

"We booked a last minute break as the weather was expected to be great and this little hotel and pub turned out to be every bit as good as the weather. The room was quite compact but equally very comfortable, and had the benefit of a balcony over looking the estuary and boat yard.
