"This hotel is beautiful, clean and very calming. The staff was amazing, breakfast was fantastic and the rooftop was stunning. The location is walkable to everything. Matera is a beautiful and unique historic town that was really fun to explore. All of the restaurants we tried were delicious too. I highly recommend Matera and the Pianelle resort! "
"The cutest hotel in the most beautiful place. And not too many stairs! Definitely recommend parking in the garage that they recommended. And paying for the shuttle"
"We're on a family trip through southern Italy and have visited several cities, including Matera. A beautiful city, steeped in history. In that context, choosing the Hotel Nazionale was a great decision. Close to the historic center, easily accessible, a modern hotel, and very well maintained."
"A beautiful hotel built into the rock walls of a valley. If you don’t like stairs, this is not the place for you.
We were dropped off y taxi near the Duomo. Then you took 30 + 30 + 19 stairs down. Then our room was another 34 steps up. People are there to carry your bags, but be prepared. Take in one bag if possible."
"Everything about our stay at the hotel was excellent, such a great location ! Our room was so lovely and how fun to sleep in a beautiful cave .
All the staff were so helpful and kind from the moment we arrived. Breakfast was delicious and special to have piano music to begin our day .
Thank you making our stay in Matera so memorable."
"Lovely property. You need a car if going to old Matera. Grocery store close by. Pretty grounds and great pool (although like most Italian pools, not heated.) we found easy parking lots near the historic area so it is ok. The photos are deceiving because the spa whirlpool tub is not included - you have to pay 100 euro per couple to use those amenities. That should be made clear in the listing or they shouldn't show the photos. " Cave" hotel room is fun but only a window at door and in bathroom. Very nice breakfast and nice staff."
"Una hotels I love. Clean and updated. Parking free and easy. Staff amazing. This hotel had a restaurant and bar which was nice. Outside the old city but easy to get there by car. Not close to restaurants or shopping but nice for easy access."
