"I gave The Courtland an "excellent" rating not because it is excellent in the same way I would rate a 5-star Hilton in downtown Portland, for instance. This is an historic building, in an historic part of Ft. Scott. It is run by ordinary folks and everything in that neighborhood is, well, historic (or old). So, it doesn't have glitz but it does have charm and it is peaceful. I would stay there again if I ever return to Ft. Scott. The owners are wonderful people. "

"Overnite stay here enroute to our destination. staff were very courteous and friendly. Room was a bit austere, but comfortable. The attached restaurant would not be my choice again. There was an abundance of the restaurants and services close by."
