"I never saw an image of the exterior of the building in the advertisement on Expedia. I never read that access to the upper floor was via a steep staircase which made carrying two suitcases to one’s room difficult. The place appears to be managed by the Wat Hotel next door but without access to the Wat’s facilities. The walls between the rooms were such that one could plainly hear conversations next door. The room was fine but the experience frankly disappointing."

"Room was very nice and spacious and feels luxurious and comfortable. Buffets were nice and had a lot of selections. I was not overly impressed with the Hida beef but it is a personal choice thing. Staff is mostly young friendly gracious people. Buffets are a combination of Japanese and western cuisine. Gift shop is very big. Would stay here again "

"The location is just superb, next to Takayama station. Washer/dryer provided in the room is so convenient for doing our own laundry. Staffs are really helpful and friendly. The only drawback for us is that the room is a bit dusty when we first checked in, they didn’t vacuum and clean properly before; I can actually see the layer of dust on the chair and table provided in the room."

"From the outside, the hotel looks a little unassuming and might make you wonder what to expect. But once inside, it was absolutely fantastic. The room was incredibly spacious, with huge beds, a large bathroom, and even an additional zen-style room that gave us plenty of space to relax. Complimentary laundry and dryer facilities were a huge bonus, and breakfast was included in our stay as well. There are also some excellent eateries just below the hotel, making meals very convenient. Despite being a small boutique hotel, it felt warm, cozy, and welcoming throughout our stay. We (my boys both 7 and 11 years old) thoroughly enjoyed our time here and would happily return."

"Location of this establishment is definitely the best feature being in the heart of Takayama old town. The amenities offered are ok but not the best. They offer free drinks in the evening. On-site spa is not hot enough. Insulation is not ok. You can hear vibration from others talking next door and others stepping off of the bed platform on the floor above. Bring ear plugs if you are a light sleeper. Lighting needs to be improved. Lighting level and quality is not enough for reading comfortably in your room. You would have to go to the lounge."
