My family stayed here for 1 night. We got two rooms. Both rooms were huge with two double beds in each room. I estimate the rooms were 2-3 times the size of a typical Japanese hotel room. The rooms were very clean as was the entire resort building. The onsen experience was good (this is the entire reason you would stay here). There is an in-door and out-door soaking pool. The food selection at breakfast and dinner was good and tasty. As expected the food is primarily Japanese – sushi, sashimi, curry, tempura, rice, noodles, etc. For an extra charge you can also get alcohol (beer, wine, sake) and a whole snow crab (seasonal).
Getting to the resort was straight forward. The resort provides a free shuttle bus to pick-up/drop-off customers at the Kagaonsen train station. We did not reserve a pick-up time ahead of time but was still able to get on the shuttle anyways since there was space. When you check-in you can ask the front-desk to reserve a shuttle for the trip back to the train station. The earliest shuttle to the train station is 9:30am.
