"Delighted with our room! It was very clean and fresh and well stocked with tea/coffee/chocolate, plus toiletries. The shower was easy to use, the water hot and plentiful, and the towels were thick and fluffy. The bed had a feather duvet which made it very luxurious and super cosy! The staff we met were polite, helpful and a credit to the company. We didn't use Restaurant next door for breakfast, but we did have an evening meal there (a cheese burger - two patties - and a chicken parmo - breaded chicken with tomato puree and garlic and cheese topping). The food was hot, the portion size generous and fantastic value for money. This place is ideal for visiting Beamish, or the Tanfield Railway (like we did). Seriously can't recommend it enough!"

"Had a lovely stay in this lovely old building. I only dealt with one member of staff, but she was very nice and friendly and made us feel welcome. Breakfast is also very nice. Heating wasn’t working but we were supplied with a portable heater to make the room nice and cozy. Thoroughly enjoyed the stay "

"Fabulous big room, we were upgraded and was a treat for our wedding night so we were absolutely delighted. Spotlessly clean, massive comfortable bed. Plenty of hot water for the jacuzzi bath, soft fluffy towels. Everything was first class. "

"Check in was quick and easy. Staff were helpful and polite, even moved me from a room in the inn to an annexe room so I could be away from noise from bar. Also had a very good breakfast which is extra but excellent value for money. Definitely recommend it hotel and breakfast."

"was able to park just in front of stable room work is in progress at the property so didnt look its best on the outside,inside was fab we had everything we needed plus extras like fridge ,toaster,microwave plenty of plates mugs dishes good drinks making equipment,single beds were comfy and spotless,tv was a bit confusing but we managed in the end,we had a lot of noise on the 2 nd evening and early morning could have been the workmen🙄 the royal oak pub is extremely welcoming drinks and meals very good,all in all good value for money our dog was made really welcome i would recommend as a comfortable budget friendly stopover to visit a lovely part of the country a friendly welcome and a relaxed atmosphere,"

"The room was decorated very nicely, but the door for room 8 did not fit the frame very well and light came in all around the door and along the bottom. Also this was not a fire door, which my wife was very concerned about. As we did not check in until after 10pm, the night manager did offer us a different room, but stated all the doors were the same. She was also concerned as the lock did not work. When I booked the room on the confirmation email it did say about some noise, but our room was directly adjacent to the fans for the kitchens and these were running all night. I had a cooked breakfast which was average, my wife had croissants and a fruit salad with yoghurt. The croissants were very nice and there was plenty of jam, but the fruit salad contained several pieces of fruit that were past their best."
