"Checked in hotel as a recommendation from friends who had stayed there before. We stayed 1 night. The next morning we needed to shower and leave early and had no hot water in the shower. We had hot water in the sink basin but nothing in the shower. When we told the reception as we were checking out, he said you should have dialed 0 but the time taken to correct it wouldn’t have been possible due to having showered already and we were checking out. Hotel was going through a major renovation also...

"It's OK. The hotel looks better on the outside than on the inside. Sauna/Steam room/Swimming pool are good. Rooms a bit dirty and outdated. No aircon."

"We had a wonderful stay. The staff was amazing. They bent over backwards to try to help are stay be the perfect experience. The food was great. The castle is truly an amazing place to stay. The grounds were immaculate as well. I want to mention one of the staff, Kayla by name, for her superb customer service and help. Everyone there showed how much they valued their guests. We would highly recommend Thornbury Castle to anyone who wants a very memorable stay."

"Very relaxing place to stay Staff were particularly friendly and helpful Huge bed in our room but definitely needs a mattress topper (room 27) Room needs decorating and updating but think they have started on rooms But still a nice place for our overnight stay"

"Lovely setting beautiful kept grounds . Large tv in the room soap and body wash in large containers over the bath couldn’t be accessed while your sitting in the bath they were set too high up the wall and one was empty . Staff were all relaxed and happy in their work couldn’t do enough for you especially the dining room staff"

"I was visiting family and this hotel was only 5 minutes away from the village they lived in. It was nice and quiet and i would say is more for people passing through. Not really for families with small children, however ideal for when on the road with a lot of travel to do as a pit stop Staff friendly and hotel clean."

Great location 👍 rooms are lovely (ours was a dog friendly room too!!!) classy décor & cosy beds; bathroom was excellent plus large walk-in shower!!! Car parking very secure 👍 We definitely recommend this hotel & we will certainly be visiting again ✅"

"Easy check in, staff were super helpful. Room was a great size, clean and nice and bright. Struggled to get the app to connect to my Expedia booking to control all the mod-cons but it wasn't critical - I could still use the TV remote the old fashioned way! Really enjoyed our stay here as an overnight stop to break up a long journey and would definitely recommend to other travellers!"
