"This is listed as a 3 star hotel. It is not. It is the most luxurious hotel we’ve stayed at, including 5 star properties. The room was amazing. The location was perfect. Although everyone in Japan seems extraordinarily nice, the staff here beat even that standard. There was not one second of our time at this property that wasn’t perfect. 10/10. "

"Highly recommend this place to stay in Kyoto, so close to Gion, wonderful restaurants, and transport. The accommodation is so spacious, well equipped, clean and has a wonderful feel with an amazing wooden bath. Special thanks to Yui who works the front desk and the Cafe. She was wonderful, so friendly, helpful and welcoming to us. It's an amazing place and we would definitely return next time. "

"Our stay at the hotel Gion Misen in Kyoto was fantastic. The location is incredibly convenient—just a short walk from the Train Station, making it easy to explore Kyoto and beyond. Our room was very clean. We also appreciated the variety of great dining options available right within the hotel. The hotel is only a few step away from a beautiful river. The staff were polite, professional, and always ready to help. Thank you for a wonderful and comfortable stay—we hope to return again soon!"

"My father and I stayed at Ishibekoji Muan on his first visit to Kyoto, and Shin went out of her way to make our stay wonderful. Whether it was dinner reservations, taxi bookings or hunting down sake glasses that I admired, she made it all happen effortlessly for us. The property itself is immaculate and elegant, and comfortable to boot. A slice of hospitality heaven in historic Kyoto!"

"This stay was absolutely wonderful, and the host was extremely attentive and understanding. The entire house is very well kept, and everything is in great condition. The bedroom and linens were very comfortable, and the large window in the room let's you wake up to a nice natural light (or block it out entirely if that's your thing). We arrived a bit later than expected, and that wasn't an issue. We were given a full tour of the house and amenities along with instructions on how everything...

"Perfect location in Gion, easy walking distance to convenient bus stops and subway stops, as well as many restaurants/shops. The Shirakawa river was so relaxing to watch. From our room, we could see cranes, turtles and large fish! Excellent decor with art and beautiful lighting, incredibly spacious (3 stories, all with full bath) with nice amenities (coffee/tea, pajamas/robe, umbrellas, laundry!, rooftop deck) and all rooms/floors had separate lockable entry code. I had only minor quibbles...

"This property is very close to Kodai-ji, which was very convenient. Also, the host washed, dried, and folded our laundry (a family of 5) while we were out seeing the sites. This was incredibly helpful. Another highlight of our stay was the wonderful welcome tea and tasty breakfast provided during our stay. Although it was a bit more expensive than other options, these benefits were well worth the additional cost."
