"Overall a great experience, the staff were extremely helpful and polite. First morning no fruit or yogurt at breakfast and second morning got our breakfasts completely wrong. The room was really nice and the bed very comfortable, I would definitely stay again."

"Great location, free parking and easy walk up to the small town centre and surrounding countryside. Staff were very helpful. Nice old property but a little dull sometimes and lacked character. Clean though. There were issues with water pressure, effecting showers etc. this was explained on arrival, so was not a surprise. Breakfast was unexciting and just ‘okay’ with overcooked scrambled eggs, dry bacon and a pot of beans that was more juice than beans. A comfortable stay despite the quibbles."

"Room was lovely . Clean spacious high tech fittings warm and some lovely bathroom accessories. Alex the manager went over and above to make us feel welcome as did Rebecca on arrival . The food was really delicious by chef Rag Thank you for our Christmas stay and we’ll be back. Doro Jillings"

"All clean and ready, but I woke up freezing and had to double up my duvet. The fire light was also very bright and I found it hard to get to sleep and to get to sleep again. "

Spa good, but disappointed due to odorous water in outside hot tubs and excessive amount of foam and scum in the indoor hydro pool which put us off using the spa facilities due to concerns of cleanliness. A shame as everything else about our stay was exceptional. Complimentary room upgrade was appreciated although the shower tray was very slow to drain. The pantry room is a great idea and had a good selection of drinks and snacks to choose...

"The rooms certainly need an upgrade, and perhaps facilities for a late night drink and something to eat. But the grounds are lovely and it’s walkable from most big tourist areas. "

"Our stay at the Jack Russell was very enjoyable. The service was excellent and the food was very good. The bedroom was very comfortable with a lovely view. However, the lighting was very subdued which is relaxing but it would have been useful to have more efficient reading lamps. The breakfast bar was good but it would have been nice to have a selection of nuts and seeds and full fat natural yoghurt. "

"Staff friendly and helpful. Just be aware that there is a £5 overnight parking fee per car. However, this is discounted from £8 overnight that I believe may be advertised on the Parking signs."
