Ocean Villas of Carlsbad

"We visit Carlsbad several times a year and decided to try this property for the first time. While the location and ocean views are absolutely beautiful and hard to beat, the overall experience didn’t justify the price for us, especially at the rate per night. The biggest issue was cleanliness. Upon arrival, the floors felt dirty and were covered with sand throughout the condo, making it feel like it hadn’t been thoroughly cleaned. We also found several long black hairs on the bedding and on the bathroom counter. While they may have been left behind by the cleaning crew, it was still unpleasant and not what I would expect at this price point. The condo itself was fine, but nothing particularly special beyond the view. Another downside was the noise. The walls seem very thin, and we could easily hear neighboring guests, including crying children and barking dogs throughout our stay. Overall, the beachfront location is fantastic, but for the cost, we expected a much cleaner and quieter experience. Unfortunately, while we’re glad we tried it, we will likely stay elsewhere on future trips to Carlsbad."

"We understand check in is at 4 but were disappointed rooms weren’t ready before ( usually they are , but that’s on us ). Room was super noisy , street noise on one side , people walking the halls on the other and people above us (no naps for us ). Was an ok stay just not the vibe we had hoped for"

"Do not stay here. Especially if you have kids. I made the mistake of not reading the reviews and just went off the pictures but the pictures were misleading. This place has tweaker vibes, the front office reeks of curry and the room was gross. We have a one year old and a three year old, I put my one year old son down to unpack and as he was crawling around on the floor he found something so I go to see what he finds before he just randomly puts it in his mouth and it’s a dead cockroach. So like I said, if you have kids, spend the extra money and take them somewhere else. My wife was cool about it but the whole place has a grimy vibe. I didn’t sleep well, they didn’t sleep well. After we got there, my wife starts reading the reviews and everyone says the same thing. I wish I had read them beforehand. Everyone also says that they rip you off for the 100$ cleaning deposit, so we took the time to clean the room well and guess what? They kept the deposit. I even took pictures of the room before we left because there were so many complaints. There were stab marks in the sheets when I took off the blankets. This place shouldn’t even exist. If you have kids and want to have a good trip, read the reviews and don’t make the same mistake I did lol lesson learned."

"Right off the freeway. Very convenient. However, there is traffic noise due to close proximity of freeway. I’d left the closet and bathroom doors opened to block the constant noise. Noise is reduced, but sounded like howling constant wind. I had a double queen. It’s spacious and clean. Looks like recently renovated. A small frig and table with 2 chairs. No breakfast though. It’s coffee, tea, and pastries. That’s not breakfast. Update: DO NOT stay here. They charge an extra $100 that was supposed to be for incidentals. They’ll scan, charge, and make you sign the $100 credit card charge before even giving you the keycard. So it was double the price for the room. What a scam!"
