"LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION!! Just a short 5 minute walk to the train station!! Area had good restaurants and little boutique shops, family mart right across the hotel and Don Quijote, huge grocery store, yummy bakery and Starbucks was right across the street. The only downfall was that nothing opened until 10am!! The room was small, but that was expected. The room I had reserved was for me only. I had a difficult time with their policy of not allowing my daughter to come up to the room with me to just relax for a bit and drop things off from our day of shopping and site seeing before going to dinner. She was not staying overnight any of the nights I was there. Otherwise, the stay was nice. "

"This was an awesome semi traditional ryokan experience. I will drop me style room was exactly what we were looking for to break up other more western hotels stays. We booked breakfast but not dinner as we wanted to explore the local areas as well. Breakfast was a traditional Japanese breakfast and as I asked in advance for a vegetarian version they accommodated extremely well and we thoroughly enjoyed a hearty breakfast. While the property itself is a little rundown, the service was amazing, the room was spotless, and the private hot tub was an added luxury. They also had a shuttle bus to and from the station on command, which proved extremely helpful & professional. The one negative was that you had to pay an onsen tax on site at checkin separate to the bill already paid. I thought this was quite cheeky given that it’s an onsen hotel and that’s the whole point of coming… there is also no choice - whether you use it or not, you have to pay the tax (only small but principly we were a bit miffed). Also note that if you have tattoos, you can only use the public bath if you have tattoo coverings. I strongly suggest you purchase these from somewhere else instead of purchasing them at the gift centre as they only have one size and one colour."

"We had a very nice, large, twin bedroom facing Lake Biwa. The room had a couch seating area and was still large enough for us to comfortably keep to big suitcases open in the room and easily get around. Breakfast service was good, with a variety of Japanese and Western dishes available. We also used the Club Lounge in the afternoons for tea and in the evenings for drinks and canapés. The staff were excellent, very friendly and professional. The hotel provides shuttle bus service to & from Otsu station plus there is a local tram line within a 5 min walk. The Lake Biwa cruise boat dock is within easy walking distance. "

"Bedroom and washroom were spacious, clean and looked new. Amenities were great. The hotel has a wide range of facilities, including a planetarium, which we really enjoyed. We had a great time. "
