If you happen to be in Iceland, hop on a quick ferry ride to the Westman Islands. Here you can hike up the active Eldfell Volcano. On your way up you'll see the rocks change color, and spot a few active hot spots to feel the temperature rising from below. Make sure to get to the very top no matter how tired you are. Chain island's of Vestmann. The biggest and inhabited one is Heimaey. The new island was formed in 1968 and taken under protection by UNESCO in pursuit of investigation of how life develops on an uninhabited island. Heimaey is also a home for the greatest number of puffins in Iceland.
I had walked up a very steep way. To the top of an old vulcano crater, to enjoy this wonderful view.
