First room had issues however quickly sorted and swapped into a new room. For £60 it was as expected - ok for a business type stay but not somewhere to stay for a romantic break...
The bedroom was very clean. Bathroom needed lots of tlc - especially the mirrors but it all worked. Only three (poor quality) pillows - it’s a double room, surely 2 pillows each! There were two teacups, one very big one very small. Only one milk supplied. Kettle had water in it. No-one on reception - had to go and find someone in the restaurant. Staff and restaurant were lovely.
Excellent vibrant restaurant, staff were very good. Food was excellent with a wide range of steaks, pizzas are fresh made fish dishes surf & turf, muscles & king prawns etc.
Really efficient staff I was impressed 👍
Not a good experience. Woken at 3:30 am by someone trying to get in to our room and then the next night by fire alarm at 3am. Pillows wore about 1 inch thick and no extra ones in room. No bed side light. Black mould in bathroom. Car park of a good size with well sized spaces.
Awful hotel, how this can be advertised as four star is shocking. Restaurant side of business was reasonable and busy but the accommodation is clearly lacking
I think its my 3rd visit to the Windmill
The floorboards are creaky, the phone signal is really awful. (But that does have a positive, no disturbances)
Its a lovely little place to stay!
The staff are fantastic.
It's spotlessly clean.
The restaurant is great, too much choice and very, very tasty.
Although it's right on the A19 its peacefully quiet.
A cracking little place that's quirky and does exactly what is says on the tin.
Cheap n cheerful 😊

Windmill hotel
Staff was very friendly & helpful plenty of choice to eat in the restaurant, down sides there was a work station in the room but no chair to sit on to work, TV was very hit and miss it is free view and most of the channels didn’t work toilet roll was just placed on the top of the holder which is very lazy by housekeeping. Bed had sharp wooden corners on it which I caught my shin on 3 or 4 times I’m sure it would be easy enough to make the corners round instead of sharp
Overall the stay was good however just a couple of points 1: had to wait at reception although the restaurant was busy; 2: couldn't fill the kettle from the sink had to use the bath; 3: lack of extra pillows only one extra we did ask but non given and 4: coat hangers in the wardrobe
Excellent food in the restaurant and all staff were very friendly and polite

Cheap and cheerful hotel.
Very basic hotel next to dual carriage way so noisy.
Restaurant at hotel was very good (Sambuca chain of restaurants) … but didn’t do breakfasts.
Room was cold and central heating not working but the staff quickly brought a heater to my room.
Cheap and cheerful hotel.

Great budget hotel - it was clean and tidy but little things like ripped towels, the heating wasn’t working so we had a fab heater but that was noisy. The cups are thimble size, nice mugs would be better. The bed was clean but not the most comfortable. Great budget stay and perfectly adequate for our needs.

The Windmill Hotel
Arrived to no receptionist and had to ask in the restaurant. Found out they don’t serve breakfast anymore even though it says in info that it does. The rooms are very tired but clean enough, there were 13 plug sockets so can’t complain about that and there was no milk on the hospitality tray. Evening meal was fantastic but felt a little rushed.
The restaurant was brilliant. Beds comfy. Unfortunately there was black mould on the ceiling. And there was some sort of drainage outside the window so it wasn't the best view and smell. The price was very reasonable though so I guess you get what you pay for.
First given a room with either chocolate or something trodden into the carpet. I then was given another room no towels no lamp no shower gel ect. Only a almost empty liquid soap , toilet had never seen bleach. The unmanned reception had the phone ringing constantly on loud speaker even woken early hours to the phone constantly ringing. Never again. However the restaurant food was absolutely spot on , absolutely brilliant. I'd definitely go back for food but not to stay over.
The food in the restaurant area is reasonable, good price and portions. Some staff have a poor grasp of English. The location attracts a lot of lower-class people, for some reason (probably the food portion size and prices).
The hotel itself is grim to terrible. I would not recommend this as a suitable location for someone on a business trip, unless your business is dealing drugs, in which case it's perfect. Especially for those rendezvous where you need to move suspicious packages between vehicles in the car park, avoiding the undercover police officers and observation/evidence gathering cameras (which there must be, judging by the clientele).
Someone tried getting into my room in the middle of the night, and I noticed the handle was damaged in the morning.
The beds were not made, and shower soap was just shampoo.
When I came back to my room in the afternoon, the door to my room was slightly ajar; someone had been in and not closed it properly (I suspect housekeeping; however, there was not much housekeeping done). It was a good job I had taken my valuables/laptop, etc, with me, else I suspect this would have gone. There was no point making any complaints as I felt it would fall on deaf ears and nothing they hadn't heard before. My fault because you pay for what you get in life, and for £50 per night, I only have myself to blame...... never again

Not the best room, large cracks in the ceiling , sink lose, mould or stains around the bath.
No tea bags for a morning cup of tea.
