This place was amazing! The staff were all so friendly and helpful. We opted for the full dinner and breakfast with a hot spring bath in the room. Everything was incredible. The food tasted fantastic and the bath was lovely and spacious with a beautiful view of the woods behind the hotel. I highly recommend this place to anyone seeking a relaxing ryokan experience.
Clean, beautiful room, friendly staff. Great outdoor onsen. Private onsen is clean, nice, and loves that it looks into nature; though aesthetically a bit basic (looks like a hot tub).
Breakfast and dinner were fantastic. Beautifully presented, tasty, and hearty. That said, dinner was too much food and wished there were more vegetables/fruit!
Everything about this place was as described. From the room, amenities to the staff. We stayed as a family of 3 and the meals, room & onsen were perfect for our one night stay. Highly recommend.
One of my best experience ever. Great hotel, private bath was amazing. Staffs were helpful. Food was amazing, great location especially if you have a car. Room was spacious and comfortable. Highly recommended.
Family Mart next to the hotel was very convenient. Nothing else nearby in terms of shopping or restaurants. The private onsen was wonderful as were the public ones. Very clean facility. Kaiseki BF and dinner was really good! Service fantastic.

I told the hotel in advance I was vegetarian and I was incredibly well accommodated. The meals were vegetarian, well presented, diverse and delicious. Lots of new Japanese food experiences. The rooms are large and relatively clean, the futon beds weren’t very comfortable (but no futons really are) and the staff were all exceptionally helpful.
Everyone was so kind, from the front desk employees to the dining staff. They put all of my nerves about experiencing a new culture to rest. I was nervous because it was my first time wearing a yukata, and eating a multi-course traditional Japanese meal. The servers especially were very encouraging and helpful, as I had a new question just about every time they walked by. A lot of the food was new to me, and it was absolutely delicious. I would recommend this hotel over and over again, and I will be returning.
The Susukinohara Ichinoyu Hotel in Hakone offers fantastic accommodations, featuring private spring baths as well as access to a larger public bath. The ambiance is lovely, making it a wonderful place to stay. There were also complimentary drinks, including alcohol. The only downside was the tedious trip to get there via a crowded bus, which made for a bumpy ride.
The staff went out of their way to help us make our way somewhere at the last minute. The room was wonderful and we enjoyed the in-room onsen tub and 2 kaiseki meals.
the inn looked dated. They provided one small bath towel, very thin. No hand towel or face towel. If you need amenities like shower cap, body cream, you have to go to the main building to get it. Onsen is nice but no views. Dinner and breakfast were good.

The fish was over cooked for dinner. That was the only concern. Everything else was excellent. Breakfast was delicious. The in room onsen was fabulous. It felt so good in the crisp open air. Awesome, i wish I'd done this some 5 to10 years ago. The crowds of tourists were unbelievable. .
Amazing place. The room is spacious and has dining area and the bath tub with open window was the best best. However the food was a little disappointing. Otherwise it was great, the hot tub was the best of all.
Absolutely delightful hotel: helpful staff, clean, comfortable, huge room, wonderful food, free tea/coffee/alcohol whenever you like, japanese robe and towels included. The private onsen was so lovely - don’t be fooled by the photos, it was clean as a whistle, just stained by the minerals in the water. Absolutely enormous amount of all sorts of strange and delicious food for both dinner and breakfast.
I’m staying in hostels pretty much every night of my holiday in Japan but wanted to spend one night having an affordable ryokan experience: this place was by far the cheapest in the Hakone area but I can’t see how it could have been better. Adding be put off by its location, it’s a short very easy bus ride from Lake Biwa; it’s also right next door to a 24 hour convenience store.
