Wow Silicon Valley can wait for the morning I think. This evening we'll sleep at the base of Mt. Shasta and wait for one hell of a sunrise ;-)
Shadow of Mt. Shasta June 2016 and a few climbers heading to the summit. It is approximately 10 miles up and just over 7,000’ in elevation gain. Started at Bunny Flat and camped at Helen Lake. We were fortunate that the weather allowed us to summit. The climbers the day before were not so fortunate due to the weather. It was a little cold due to the wind chill factor from the winds. Try to avoid weekends due to the crowds. It is a very special place and a sense of accomplishment when one summits this mountain.
Note: We saw a CHP helicopter land at Helen Lake to pick up an injured climber. Remember to take your crampons off before glissading. Enjoy your hike and have fun!
