A great place to relax

What to say! This was a last minute booking which totally changed the feel of our trip. A haven of peace and tranquility. Such welcoming friendly staff and owners. Very helpful on the accommodation front. We could not have asked for more. Half an hour'ish walk to the beach through the wetlands or taxis to go further. A very peaceful safe area. Very friendly and very little hassle. An interesting location attracted interesting visitors. Dinner around the large round table in the evening exchanging stories made for pleasant evenings. Nice food at good prices. Whether you are looking for somewhere for bird watching or general relaxation I would highly recommend. Just don't tell everyone!

Peaceful, no hasstle & great for solo travellers

I like travelling independently but elsewhere it was difficult to get peace, quite or time to be alone. Footsteps was a breath of fresh air and within an hour I managed to relax. My partner has mild asbergers so does not like travelling but I can imagine even he would enjoy the tranquility of this accommodation. I am working on it already. The good wifi is unheard of. The meals were excellent and evening eating arrangements where guests sit around the central table helped integrate solo traveller's like myself. I loved it.

Well run Eco-lodge.....

Situated in a quiet spot about 20mins gentle walk from the Ocean, we found Footsteps offered the ideal situation to relax and enjoy the Gambian countryside. A million miles in concept from the resort complexes 20 miles down the beach it seems to appeal to active, sociable people. The owners have worked hard to make the lodge sustainable by using solar panels for both hot water and lighting etc. as well as composting toilets. They also take an active positive approach to the training and care of their hard working and friendly staff. My overall impression was of a excellent eco-lodge, living up to the name.

El footsteps Ecolodge es muy recomendable! Es en una zona tranquila, rodeado por la naturaleza! Los trabajadores son muy amables y ayudan en todo lo que pueden. Me sentí muy bienvenida y cuidada, como una familia grande. Además ayudan a organizar rutas para explorar y conocer a Gambia de manera local y no tan turística! Te ofrecen chofer y guía local y te llevan a lugares espectaculares! El lodge es todo ecológico y sin embargo no falta nada. La comida que ofrecen es buenísima!
