"I can’t say enough about this property and staff. Having travelled to Italy and Europe a dozen or more times few properties have been so welcoming and helpful from start to finish. The property was ultra convenient to the main shopping and eating street in Taormina just a few steps away. The room was spacious and clean. "My husband and I both loved this beautiful hotel. From the time we were checked in by the lovely Ada, until the sad time when we had to leave. The hotel is lovely and the views are breathtaking. Our room was great and had a large terrace that looked out at Mt. Etna and the coastline below. Walter was great at driving us into town and back, as well as being informative about the area. "The check-in process was a bit ludicrous lacking front desk (reception) staff that had to be coordinated for every move, even to pick up and drop off our car. The shower in our room not only barely had water coming out but there was "limited" hot water to shower with during the winter months (December), that for a medium hair length woman, not enough hot water to wash the hair. Gabriella, the housekeeping lady was the one thing we enjoyed about our stay. "

"We had the beautiful patio room with an amazing view of Taormina and the sea. Room was spacious and clean. Close to shops and sights. A little short on basic amenities, like a simple box of tissues. And while somewhat charming, access to hotel is in the middle of a flight of an ancient stone staircase, which was challenging with luggage in the rain, No real reception, you get a code to the main door. "Lovely location. Just be aware they dont clean the rooms every day."

"You stay there because of the view and central location. Huge price tab of a Ritz or Four Seasons without the customer service.... Staff is not terribly helpful at times. We asked for a "Do Not Disturb" sign for bedroom several times. Crickets. We asked to change a large Euro bill. Crickets. We asked for a late checkout for one of our several rooms. Nope. But the view is stunning!"

"Hotel Sonia is set in a stunning setting clinging to the side of a mountain overlooking Mt Etna. She is beautiful but in need of an update and more care around the property. It is clean, the staff helpful and courteous, the rooms ok, breakfast is great, bar service ok, and the village it is in is definitely worth the detour."

"Staff were amazing. Helpful, friendly, The room was beautiful, the pool lovely. Unfortunately, the water was shut off for all of our last night (no warning) . Still no water in the morning - no shower- no face wash. Staff said it was the city. I think they should have adjusted our bill to somehow compensate for this major inconvenience. "
