"We loved White Sands Resort. We were six people in two one-bedroom apartments with a connecting door, just perfect for us. The kitchens were convenient, however one was not stocked at all and the other just had a few plates and a couple of forks and spoons. We didn't plan to do much cooking so didn't say anything about it, but probably the staff would have responded had we asked. Otherwise, the stay was perfect with excellent air conditioning and two pools plus lovely beach walks to choose...

"Nice if you like solitude and being in nature, and don't mind "rustic". Big open air villas surrounded by trees (even a few baobabs), which are frequent by monkeys (including red colobus). Not so nice if you are used to excellence and attention to detail in everything. Resort is in need of TLC at a minimum or renovation at a maximum to make it worth the price. All of the cushions are either worn out or torn with the cotton pocking out or zippers not closing... I would not recommend booking any...

"PROS: The hotel is on beautiful grounds with a lovely pool and attended by friendly staff. CONS: The food is really very bad, the bedding and pillows should be burnt, and they use an incredibly unsafe and outdated credit card system. OVERALL: There are so many cool and interesting places to stay on Zanzibar. I'd opt for somewhere else."
