"We loved everything the the cave hotel offered,this time we only had a one night stay and our last stay was quite a while ago but on returning we certainly where not disappointed it was special we had our evening meal with them and that was wonderful we couldn’t take breakfast much to our disappointment it our room was really clean and welcoming really quite special as was everything about the CaveCastle Hotel Well done to every member of staff"

"Very convoluted way to get to the room. Extremely inconvenient stairs if you have luggage. With a slight investment they could make it more convenient by making the corridor of one level."

"The location was good, though parking was difficult in the back alley. The room was quite hot, even on a cool day, and were it not for the ability to open the window and use a fan (already in the room) it would have been very comfortable. The condition of the room - new and clean - was very good."

"Enjoyed the stay but it was noisy trying to get to sleep in the cottage room and I’m curious as to why there were only 9 loungers in the spa but there are 60 bedrooms ? I had to sit on a chair .. not really the spa experience I was looking for. Also another gripe of mine is no full length mirrors in bedrooms ? And no table near a mirror to sit and dry hair and do makeup ? It’s the little things that make all the difference."

"Lovely welcome from host Jack, easy parking and access to the property. Room very clean and comfortable, everything needed for our 2 night stay. Great selection for continental breakfast in the morning in a pleasant self service dining area. Enjoyed a meal at The Plough Inn which was a short 5min walk away."

"Last minute booking for a cheeky overnight sojourn in York. First time visit, slightly out of the centre, but close to frequent bus service. Traditional hotel, spotlessly clean, with a few creaking bits. Special mention for the excellent receptionist, Jessica. Good value for money and will definitely be back!"

"I stayed only a few nights and had wonderful experience. Place is relatively easy to find - this relaxing walk through the green park was a big joyful bonus. Very clean room, comfy bed, good shower. Attention to detail in any aspect. So, it was a real pleasure to return to my room after spending a day in a busy town. Thank you Fiona and Ricardo for making my stay so special. I won't hesitate to rebook again."

"We stayed at this property in May 2026. While the staff were extremely kind and helpful, the air conditioner in our room was not working and they refused to change our room since they were all booked and declined a refund/compensation too. When you pay £137 a night the least you expect is for the air conditioner to work especially when it’s been a hot day and you’re on the top floor of the hotel. Pretty poor for a ‘Marriott’ hotel. Avoid at all costs."

"Breakfast is not to be missed. Cooked to order and a bargain at £12.50. The produce used is top class. The bar and dining room are very nice. Just what you'd expect from a pub/hotel. Staff were excellent and the rooms spotless. The rooms are typical of an old building. Practical and very clean. The odd paint scuff but expected in this style of property. So near the city crntre with free parking this property is an absolute bargain. Great value for money. Highly recommended"

"Good location 15 mins walk to centre along the river. Clean rooms and adaquite kitchen. Free morning pastries was a basket full of plain croissants not alot of choise there. Coffee machine was broke but hot water and coffee available in its place. We just made one in our room. Lovely veiw over the river."
