"I wanted to love this hotel so much more than I did. I think everyone will agree that the elevator situation was beyond intolerable.....slowest elevators EVER and that was when they worked. They were inoperable for most of the week we stayed. We did not request clean towels every day as we do try to be conscious of the environment. But the 2 times we did, we never received more than one washcloth. One upon arrival and one the rest of the week....had to request more every time. The room was spacious though. We are not slobs but the beds were never made nor were toiletries replaced unless specifically requested. Had to catch the cleaning lady on several occasions to request replacements. The breakfast buffet was typical but always well stocked, clean and with plenty of seating. We only used the pool area once but found most of the chaise lounge chairs in terrible condition (ripped & dry rotted) although the seats around the tables were in better shape. The location was decent with a bus stop nearby and easy access to the highway. Overall, we were not overly impressed & doubt we would recommend this hotel."

"Wonderful historic building with modern updates where it matters. Friendly staff. Easy check in/check out. Street level access as well as a lower level walk out to the River Walk. We had a King Suite and it was spacious, comfy and quiet (except when the Spurs won and all the cars were honking - LOL). Good food and drinks. I highly recommend and would stay here again. "

"It’s a pretty simple old school hotel. Clean for its age and you can’t beat the price. You got the Skybar across the street and extremely close to the city’s popular places. The staff are nice and if you get a chance to meet Jesus he’s a solid guy."

"no microwave and when I pay for river view I expect a river view not majority street. That’s the only 2 cons. The hotel and everything was nice tho. Valet parking is a bit expensive $66 on top of your room as well. "

"Hotel Contessa is absolutely amazing!! From the money we got there fransisco & fast Eddie were on it! Helping us with our luggage and helping with anything we needed. This is by far my favorite place to stay on the riverwalk."
