• All your electronics, including your tablet and phone, must also be scanned separately.
• Travelling with your favourite cologne? Not a problem. As long as the volume is no greater than 3.4 ounces (100 millilitres) and it's stored in a clear zip-lock bag, it's OK to bring with you on board.
• Choosing your footwear wisely can save you several minutes. Boots are often required to be removed and separately scanned. Slip-on sneakers are usually not.
• Pocket knives and other sharp items can't be taken on board. They'll be confiscated at security, so put them in your checked luggage.
