No matter where you're coming from, flying can be an enjoyable experience if you prepare well enough. We've compiled a list of handy tips and tricks that will help get your Barling holiday started on the right note. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- Travelling on a plane can be a stress-free experience if you bring the right stuff. Firstly, you'll need basic toiletry items, such as deodorant and a toothbrush, a clean set of clothes and a good novel. Secondly, leave space in your hand luggage for your laptop, a charger, medications and perhaps a cosy neck pillow too. Last, but definitely not least, don't forget to bring your passport, travel documents and your credit cards.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Squeeze all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and conditioner in your checked baggage. Any liquids or gels in your carry-on bag larger than 3.4 ounces (100 millilitres) will be confiscated. Sharp objects, like a Swiss Army knife, and products which are flammable or explosive, such as aerosol cans, spray paint and poisons, are also not allowed.
What to wear on a flight:
- The aisles of a plane are no place for a fashion parade. Don comfortable layers and choose shoes that are flat, enclosed and easy to pull on and off.
- Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) can pose a risk on long-haul flights. It results from blood clotting due to inactivity and poor circulation, so do some gentle leg and foot exercises in your seat and consider wearing compression socks or tights.
