Wherever you're coming from, flying can be an enjoyable experience if you've prepared well enough. We've compiled a list of handy tips and tricks that will get your Arla holiday started on the right note. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- Air travel can be a cruisy experience if you bring the right stuff. Firstly, you'll want some toiletry items, such as a toothbrush and lip balm, a spare set of clothes and a good book. Secondly, leave space in your carry-on bag for your electronic gadgets, chargers, medications and maybe a blow-up neck pillow as well. Lastly, and most importantly, don't forget to bring your passport, travel documents and your credit cards.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- While the list of restricted items can differ between air carriers, the general rule of thumb is nothing sharp, flammable or explosive. This includes tools, metal cutlery, fireworks and fuel. Sporting equipment like golf clubs, and objects that could harm other people, such as swords and batons, can't come on board with you either.
What to wear on a flight:
- Your number one priority is to make yourself as comfortable as you can. Dress in loose, natural-fibre clothing and remember to pack a pullover in case it gets cold in the cabin. Pick a pair of flat, slightly roomy shoes as your feet may swell a little during the journey. Leave the high heels and hiking boots in your checked baggage.
- Most travellers have heard about DVT (deep vein thrombosis), a blood clotting condition caused by long periods of sitting. There are many ways to minimize your risk. Wear a good-quality pair of compression socks, drink plenty of water and move your legs and feet. Do a lap or two of the cabin or try out some exercises in your seat.
