Based on the photos and descriptions on booking sites, I expected something acceptable. What I found was shocking.
Poor ventilation & mold: Rooms are extremely small with little to no ventilation. In El Nido’s hot, humid climate this results in mold, mildew, and a strong smell of damp, stagnant air in every room I was shown.
Unsanitary conditions: The bathroom was filthy—hair, dirt, dust, and a visible brown ring around the toilet. Staff ignored my complaint until I forcefully insisted they clean it.
Unbearable heat: The rooms are made from shipping containers that bake in the sun. The tiny, noisy AC was ineffective. The plastic-covered mattress and thin sheet made sleeping miserable—expect to sweat constantly.
Unsafe water: At check-in I was warned to keep my head down in the shower to avoid getting water in my eyes or mouth. I’ve traveled to nearly 150 countries and have never heard this. No sealed drinking water was provided—only an unsealed container of unknown origin.
Cheap furnishings & poor security: Everything is extremely low quality. Doors and locks felt flimsy, and there is no security or gated access.
Rude staff & poor service: Communication was good before arrival but collapsed immediately. Staff were rude and dismissive, especially when issues were raised.
Refund granted: I booked seven nights but left immediately. The booking platform issued a full refund—something they rarely do.
In summary: do not book this accommodation
