"Room 7 extractor fan not working. Both windows can’t be propped open. No mirror over desk so hairdryer cannot be plugged in near a mirror. Shower floods bathroom floor. All staff tried hard but were overstretched. At breakfast many things were only available if asked for. Evening meals not good value for money. This is not a 4 star hotel. "

"Lovely hotel, staff were so friendly and polite. Our room was lovely and clean and had everything we needed. Food at the hotel both in the evening and breakfast was all freshly cooked to order with a great selection."

"The building could do with a refurb. However our room although tired was clean. There was no lift to use but the staff were more than happy to carry our bags upstairs. All the staff were friendly and helpful. Restaurant food was good. "

"Our room was very pleasant and had everything we needed. The staff were very pleasant and quick to rectify a small problem I had. "

"Very helpful reception staff very welcoming and informative. Room was very clean and ready for us. Bar and restaurant staff were also excellent attentive. We had an excellent meal, the bill needed a bit of sorting out as the system had difficulty sorting out the normal menu and the offered special but got there in the end. We were with friends ( who used to be in the hospitality industry) and overall we were impressed. Thank you to all at The Bear we will be back "
