I had a lovely stay although not a front facing room unfortunately but a peaceful wooded view. Enthusiastic staff eager to renovate and get the hotel back up to scratch but a quirky and charming place, full of authenticity and character. Definitely not a 5* luxury hotel but could not fault the facilities, comfort, and great value for money. Ample parking, green spaces with lovely view, beautiful bed linen & supersoft towels and great shower!
Room was luxury, staff were very helpful and i give this hotel 5 stars.

Hotel and grounds are rather run down but trying. Bathroom in particular had seen better days. Room was clean and staff were friendly and helpful.
Our room name was Skye. The view was amazing and it was great watching Ferries come and go.
Didn’t have breakfast so can’t comment on food.
Is a good 1/2 hour walk into town.
However there is a bus stop almost opposite and a local taxi firm.
One thing that really needs addressing is the Hotels front door. Our room was directly above it and it slams shut. It was really annoying. You’d just be dropping off and it would go BAM. They really need to fit a soft close hinge.
Didn’t get the chance to raise directly with staff as everyone was busy when we left.
If you’re after a reasonably priced room with great views and don’t mind a bit of shabby it’s fine.
Great hotel,great manager and staff,very helpful,fantastic room with a view of the clyde,very warm hotel,loads of character,and feels great,highly recommend,ill certainly be going back 5 🌟

The staff at the royal Marine would not do any more for you, the room was upgraded to a sea view and that was amazing, we sat and had two beautiful dinners, the dining room is redecorated wonderfully and they even did a santas grotto. It’s like fine dining for incredibly prices, I really wish more people start to visit so they can keep bringing this old hotel back to full glory, they deserve it. Would we stay again absolutely!!
Very friendly staff, room was very nice with a sea view and two big comfortable chairs to sit on looking out to sea watching the car ferry’s coming and going.
The Royal Marine is an historic building, full of history, with an outstanding sea view, transformed internally with the installation of en suite bathrooms etc to suit the modern traveller.
Hi.
Good location for the ferry. Thought id booked breakfast in with my stay to be told i had to pay for it. No paperwork on checkin so nice n easy. Really old hotel, my room was the attic, cold n wied smell. Heater provided but i couldnt work out how to use it but only there 1 night n bed fabulously comfy so very cold when out of bed. Didnt want to complain for only 1 night but im 100% sure the manager would have sorted it out, he was really nice n so were his staff. Great position to see Holy Loch n ferry across the water is very frequent n just outside Dunoon so all in all a great home from home as im just 1.5 hours away but think a cars best to see around n about Dunoon yo appreciate the scenery n landscape n parking at the hotel was fine. Will take a hell of a lot of money to bring the hotel to modern standards decor wise. Might be back 1 day but Thank u for your care and attention whilst i stayed overnight

A historic property that was peaceful and a beautiful view of Holy Loch.
Always a warm welcome, comfy beds, very quiet and peaceful. Staff really go the extra mile. Even brought us plates and cutlery for our takeaway. Lovely old place.

Old and with historic value lovely place to stay , wonderful staff.
Stayed here for one night. Room was clean and the bed was so comfortable. It is a little dated but it all adds to the character. Would stay here again . 👍Proximity to the ferry was 30 seconds which was great
I really like this hotel. If you like old style architecture like me this is great. We stayed in the arran room where the view was amazing looking down on the ferry terminal. The room was spacious and comfortable.
Absolutely amazing hotel. Unsure what the bad reviews are about as our stay was amazing. The room was up to date and very spacious, we loved the added touch of the toilet roll haha.
The lady on reception was wonderful and so nice.
We will definitely be back.
Lovely, comfortable stay in a large room which suited us having 2 dogs with us. Staff excellent, super friendly and accommodating. Hotel is comfortable and cozy and is a very old building which the owners are continuing to upgrade. Beautifully spacious and high ceilings with many period features. Breakfast was great too. Will definitely be back.
