I booked the Floating Home in Reef Resort because I wanted to try something completely different, and that's exactly what I got. Being out on the water makes it unlike a normal hotel stay.
The biggest issue is communication about arrival. It wasn't made clear beforehand that you have to take a barge to reach the resort, with an additional ₱1,000 charge. Luckily, I had a local Philippine phone, which made coordinating everything much easier. If you're a foreign traveler without a local number, I can see this being difficult and confusing. They need a better system for international guests and explain the transportation process before arrival.
The property was only about a year old during my September 2026 stay, but some tents were already showing wear and small tears. The ocean environment will make maintenance a challenge, so I'd experience it while it's still new. The check-in area needs fans because it gets extremely hot in the morning.
The staff, however, was absolutely amazing. The Wi-Fi was surprisingly good for being in the middle of the ocean. It's fine for everyday internet use, but I wouldn't depend on it for important calls or video meetings.
Another surprise: NO mosquitoes! Being surrounded by water, I expected them everywhere, but I didn't encounter any.
For the price, this is great value. Don't go expecting luxury go for something different, affordable, and memorable. Right now, it's definitely worth experiencing.
I went I saw and now I dont have to go back. The people who worked on at the floating place were great. All of the people helping were nice. The lady on the boat giving orders was a bit shady. It was a cool experience but I won’t be back. It’s something you do once for the experience.
As a side note don’t follow Google Maps to the location. Go to the dock and take the ferry they provide. That part wasn’t communicated when I booked the place. You are trapped out there and can’t get back if you feel like leaving and checking out other local spots until the boat leaves the next day at check out.
