Criccieth Castle
9.0/10 (70 reviews)
The ruins of imposing Criccieth Castle are a superb example of a native castle. Built during the reign of Llywelyn the Great, one of the greatest Welsh statesmen of the Middle Age, these spectacular ruins, dramatically situated on the headland between two sandy beaches, tower over the blue waters of the bay. The castle looks down on the pretty seaside resort of Criccieth, and offers a vista from which to survey the North Cambrian Coast and the Llลทn Peninsula of North Wales.

Top Criccieth Hotel Reviews
Aberdunant Hall
10/10 Excellent
"Really great hotel. We stayed in a Cabana Suite, which had a quirky, modern feel and was really well designed. Both the cabin and the resort as a whole were beautifully maintained. We genuinely couldnโt fault our stay โ everything was excellent."
The Swallow Falls Inn - The Inn Collection Group
10/10 Excellent
"Spent a one night stay in a family with my two 14 year olds. Check in was a bit slow, waiting in the bar area for around 10-15 minutes early evening, before a staff member could see to us. Our room was in a separate building and was newly refurbished. It was spacious with a large bed and sturdy bunks, all important WiFi for the kids! Decoration was cosy and comfortable. Tea making facilities were welcomed. Had a quiet nights rest. We ate our evening meal in the restaurant. We were served quickly and the food was delicious- steaks & burgers being ordered. Good size portions, Tableโs werenโt cleared anywhere without asking and we could sense frustration of some guests but we werenโt too bothered. We finished off with a โbrickโ of sticky toffee pudding. We all rolled to bed stuffed! The outside areas of the hotel were pleasant, lots of seating, pretty flowers, twinkly lights. We didnโt bring our dog but it looked like theyโd be well catered for. Breakfast was pleasant with lots to choose from and again delicious. The morning staff were super helpful and friendly. We took the opportunity to visit Swallow Falls being right opposite. Spent about half an hour there taking some pictures. All in all, good location for the town and visiting Snowdonia. An enjoyable brief stay. Would certainly book again."

8/10 Good
"Our visit was planned to join family who were camping nearby. We requested a twin room and was very disappointed to be given a disabled room although clean was very basic. Breakfast order was requested and a time at which to eat it even before given keys to our room. I can understand that if the breakfast was served on arrival. However, bacon and sausage has obviously been sitting keeping warm for a while. Second day requested a lighter alternative. Overall the place was very clean and staff very friendly. Outside the front door needs attention and the area to the annex where our room was needs attention. All in all a pleasant stay but far too high a price for the standard of accommodation."
