"The room we booked wasn’t prepared, they only had 1 bed. Staff brought in a pullout instead (which was not comfortable and not sufficient for us), at which point we dropped off our bags and went into the city. Upon returning at 7pm we found that we had no blankets for the pullout anywhere, 4 of the 6 ceiling lights were burnt out and we could hardly get light, and there were no staff there for the rest of the night"

"one of the best hotel room, i have ever stayed. the lobby is nice, the room is huge and even nicer. they refill the water, but towards the end of our stay, they no longer refill the snack.
otherwise the room is nice as per picture, bonus it is just 3 mins walk from the train station, so if your journey is late at night, this hotel is just close by to the train station and royal mile."

"We stayed for a week, Great spot, nice and quite, a small supermarket almost right behind, which was very handy. 1 min walk from the Royal mile too. easy access to some local restaurants and cafes etc.
the only issue we had was the heater wasn't working, we were given a small electric radiator that help take the chill off but it wasn't ideal. we did tell the office and they said that they would advise the maintenance staff, but in the whole week we never saw them.
Apart from smokers standing...

"Edinburgh is famous for its steep hills and endless stairs. If you book through a third-party site like Expedia, you’ll find yourself filling out a massive form from scratch after hauling two massive suitcases up 800 steps, completely out of breath. then another surprise: tourism tax. Expedia usually charges that in advance for many cities but not Edinburg, I think. There was no clear instructions of how to calculate it. They ask, you pay. Official gov documents say; only 5 days in a year - but...

"The hotel is on a flat part of Grassmarket. The Saturday outdoor market is right across the street, as is the hop- hop-off bus and at least 6 pubs and some simple eateries. Victoria street is a 3 min. walk. I loved the location. The hotel is well maintained and you can get lots of towels or tea from the cleaning staff, who are always around. If you want the hotel pub or pool, you’d have to go to the sister Apex hotel. I liked the quietness of this one. Only problem is the corridors and rooms...
