"First issue was that we had to pay high city tax which was not mentioned anywhere. Second issue was that when we arrived, our All-In option did not cover first day lunch so we had to pay, the same applied on departure. Hotel room was OK, nothing exceptional. "The property itself is very nice and well kept. The staff were also great! The pool is nice but a little deep at 1.4m but I’m just short. They do need to do a better job of food safety and covering food from flies. If I didn’t make it right at buffet opening, everything was covered in bugs! Also it wasn’t clear enough that this was a no alcohol resort when booking (I don’t drink that much anyways) and I understand it’s Ramadan but other resorts still had activities and entertainment, this one...

"Very welcoming and friendly staff; restaurant went out of their way to accommodate our dietary restrictions. The property is kept very clean and well staffed. If you want a break from the crowded touristy areas of Zanzibar; I highly recommend Treetop. Just be aware that off property it’s a distance to find restaurants or proper markets. But Treetop is so good for a quiet restful stay in Zanzibar. It’s also very close to Jozani Forest which is a major attraction for nature and wildlife "

"The hotel is not nearly as beautiful as it is in the pictures. I am sure it was amazing 5 years ago but it has fallen into a bad state of disrepair. A colony of bats made a home inside and leave their droppings all over the hallway and in room #4 if you are lucky to get that one. Room #1 smelled of raw sewage. "The staff were fantastice. Unfortunately we cannot rate this resort better because the pool was unusable. The large adult pool was being used by a child who pooped in it everyday. We brought it to the attention of the owner who assured us they would address it. The next day the child again pooped in the adult pool.
