The accommodations, breakfast and staff were great. The winery and vineyard were excellent. Only concern was the meal service is slow. Management needs to have more servers on the shift for the dinner service. The servers were great but too few. Overall, the experience was very nice.
Very interesting property. Nice views including of the mountain. Donkey braying that sounded like a woman having sex on a loudspeaker— hilarious!! Great breakfast.
The property is not simple to reach especially at night. It is for the quite lovers as even the reception close at 8pm . The restaurant is very good. Breakfast ok nothing that make you fill you should be in an upscale wine resort
Property is lovely and the reception staff was great. The staff members in the wine bar were very loud and chatty as they complained about work while customers were seated. It was unfortunate because it is such an amazing space and the staff should not be an annoyance. Everything else was great. The wine tour and tasting was very informative.
Cavenera Wine Resort was beautiful and the rooms were the nicest of our trip. Bed and pillows comfortable, good breakfast with many selections. Beautiful pool and grounds. Outstanding views from the beautifully designed restaurant. My only criticisms were there was no Consierge or sommelier and the menu was limited to fancy high end and expensive food. Our couscous and swordfish was good, but on the second night we had a wine tasting and lunch off the property and we only wanted a salad or appetizer for dinner. Appetizer menu was inadequate and no salad menu. There was only at table wine tasting which was very expensive. So we bought a bottle instead. And there was only the waiter doing the wine tasting. Need to bump up the menu and always have a sommelier at the dinner hour.
This was our second stay at Cavanera. The setting is amazing and the restaurant, Riserva, is outstanding. The surrounding area is a wine lover’s paradise. Things to improve…. They should just let the air conditioning run in the gym. It’s a sauna in there. They only turn it on if someone wants to use it which makes no sense to me. Also, we were there over three days and the whole time there was a dead mouse on the steps that lead to the pool. It is to be expected, you are in the middle of a vineyard after all. But leave it there for three days?!? None of this will stop me from coming back. The positives far outweigh the negatives but you know…. The devil is in the details. Looking forward to be back at Cavanera!
Beautifully located, spectacular scenery amongst the slopes of Etna and the vineyards. Property is well hidden, you wouldn't know it is there unless you are specifically looking for it. Property is well maintained and their respect for the environment and minimal impact is evident. The staff were wonderful with our check in, escorting us to our room. The pool is lovely, elevated and surrounded by vineyards. Our room was perfect, situated in one of the bungalows. All furnishings and amenities in the room were excellent. We took advantage of the winery tour and tasting and dinner. Our guide was great, very knowledgeable about the winery itself and the wine world in general. Our dinner was delicious....highly recommend the tasting/dinner combo. The staff was very accommodating on our check out date, as we had an Etna trek/tour planned, holding on to our luggage and letting us leave our vehicle there while we were away on our tour for several hours. Looking forward to returning some day, either here or on of the other Filiato properties.
If I could give La Cavenera Etnae more than 5* I would. We stayed here for one night for my 30th birthday and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. We did the Eruption wine tasting and Roberto was so knowledgeable and exciting to listen to. I had the fish menu and my partner the meat and both options were absolutely incredible. The facilities are beautiful, the pool and vineyard walks are so peaceful and relaxing. The room was super comfortable and clean. We will definitely come back!
The vineyards location is stunning. View from the room.of mt etna and the vineyard. Beautiful room and pool area. Wine tour with Roberto was amazing and the wine delicious.we opted just for a meat and cheese selection which was very nice and generous portion! However breakfast the next day was poor. Signs to say €2 for tea and coffee and €6 for a cooked breakfast. We ordered tea but wasnt charged so slightly confused on the signs. Cold selection is a bit lacking. Pool hours are 11 till 7 so no chance of a dip in the pool before checkout in 34c weather
We were disappointed by our stay at Cavanera. We were informed a few days before our stay that the restaurant would be closed, and the tasting room/bar was also closed. We booked a room with king size bed but it was only a queen, despite reception telling us otherwise. Parking was far from the room, including a lot of steps, which we didn't anticipate with our bags, and not well lit to walk from, when we had to come back from a dinner out instead of the (closed) restaurant onsite.
Overall the views are pretty, but we would caution to check about the desired amenities you'd like, and that the advertised king bed size was not accurate.
