I’m reviewing this in acknowledgment that I paid well, well over the average cost for this hotel, as I was attending the opening night of Oasis at the stadium, and Cardiff always whacks up the prices for any event. This hotel is no exception, I would say I paid maybe 5x or 6x times the usual price as Radisson have no qualms with fleecing people when demand rises.
That said, this hotel has no business charging what it does, the rooms are incredibly tired. The bathroom was at the very end of its life. The bath tap came off in my hand, the toilet has water constantly running, the flush barely worked.
The room has no aircon. Madness when the summer nights are so hot and when they’re taking the best part of £500 off you. Thankfully there’s a fan in the cupboard, so I could create some sort of makeshift solution where I dragged a table closer to the bed so the fan can reach a plug, the propping the fan so it would actually hit the bed.
The whole room has a lot of wear and tear. Kept clean as it can be, it must be said, but it sorely needs a refurb. Breakfast was fine. Staff are nice enough. Though I had to interrupt a conversation at the desk to check out as I was just standing there waiting with a train to catch.
If I was paying the average £70-odd price, I’d be much more fine with it and a bit more forgiving. But the cash grab for what it delivered is a joke.
