Northward in Ebbw Valley at site of Crumlin Viaduct, 1990. View NW to Swffryd, probably from the A472 road, over the site of the former Crumlin Viaduct, some residual piers of which can be seen. Demolished in 1967, the viaduct carried the ex-GW Pontypool Road (to the right) - Aberdare - Neath line, which was closed on 15/6/64, across the valley and the Newport - Ebbw Vale/Brynmawr line at Crumlin (Low Level)
Tir Sion Siencyn I have spelt this complex of buildings the Welsh way, after the hillside on which it stands. This on the north side of Cwm y Glyn (the A472 is unseen in the valley) taken from above the forestry on Mynydd Llwyd.

Well-preserved oval mound that once hosted gladiatorial combat and military processions. This amphitheater was built for the Roman forces at Isca around AD 90 and would have seated around 6000 spectators!

Caerleon

Caerleon is noteworthy for its restaurants, and you can make a stop at top attractions like Caerleon Amphitheatre and Isca Augusta.

The coolest "bridge" I have ever "driven" across! Drive aboard and take flight over the River Usk in this 110 year old engineering marvel. Only six of these historic bridges remain in operation, and the Newport Bridge is the longest with a 196m span (645ft).

A modern highway bridge passes nearby, so these days the bridge operates as a novelty. Show up on either side, and the operator will come pick you up! You can also climb the steps and walk across the 54m

Pillgwenlly

Pillgwenlly might not have many top sights, but Newport Docks and Newport Transporter Bridge are two attractions nearby that you can check out.
