First of all I was extremely grateful to be upgraded due to the insurmountable noise of my first room on the third floor nile view. The party boats are out of control sound wise and this can go on until 5-6am. The manager upgraded me to a 2 bedroom apartment on the 21st floor and I was incredibly grateful for his kindness. Most of the staff is extremely kind and welcoming. However the pool is sadly full of people with so many small children that are left to scream and play and do whatever they want. This was multiple families and the staff said nothing. The big group of women 'watching' them where not consuming any food or beverage and occupied most of the lounges most of the day. There was very little service poolside, and it was also very dirty and unkept. Such a shame as the pool is beautiful and the view of the nile so romantic. That area could be an incredible asset to the hotel, instead of being abandoned this way. The restaurant food is also very average, much of the breakfast menu was uneatable and low quality. The restaurant staff is very inattentive. The rooms are old and to some extent that is nice as they are more spacious than many more contemporary hotels and they still have a romantic quality. The hotel would greatly benefit from a renovation and a re-think of the restaurant menu, pool lounge area and pool rules. Aside from that I felt safe and grateful the people who work at the hotel are so thoughtful and genuinely care about the guests.
