"The property is quirky and has a boutique feel in a very attractive building. However the room was not well maintained with a cracked pane of glass in the window, grubby corners, badly marked paintwork. Having booked the room online and seen it - I was not advised that the room was in the attic, and that there were 2 flights of stairs to access it. the second one being very steep and narrow. "Perfect location! Quaint spot just outside of the city centre close to UoB. Sam and reception staff incredibly friendly. We could have chatted for hours if we didn't have an itinerary of things we needed to complete before the end of the day! Would definitely recommend a stay here."

"Fantastic service from the moment we arrived we were offered an upgrade which whilst it sounded great actually was in a smaller bed than the original room that we had booked. Although the room was considered to be an upgrade we decided to decline that offer, due to this. Moving back into our originally booked room was seen as no problem at all from the staff who are with us within just a couple of minutes to put us back into our original room with the larger bed. "Lovely hotel, everything you'd expect from a MalMaison. Hotel room was spot on - lovely, quiet and well-sized. I was there during the hottest days of the year so far and the air conditioning worked perfectly. A fan was provided on the second night just because the aircon took a while to start up - I'd strongly recommend getting a second key to keep the electrics running whilst you are out.
