This sculpture in Kelly Ingram Park in Birmingham, Alabama depicts a vicious dog attack during the civil rights protests in 1963. This sculpture is very effective. I got chills walking through and imagining what it just have been like. #civilrights #historymatters

Civil Rights Historic District is popular for its abundant dining options, and if you're looking for more to see and do, you might think about a trip to Birmingham Civil Rights Institute or Alabama Theater.

Civil Rights Historic District
Truly the best view of the city is from Crest Road.

FYI, This is NOT a spot that locals ... or local Law Enforcement want a bunch of tourists visiting. The small one way street only runs about 1000 feet and no stopping is allowed. The street is closed with a keypad locked gate after 7 p.m. I parked down the street and walked up just before 7 p.m. for this shot.

Please be aware that in this part of town there is a lot of affluence and Local Law Enforcement is VERY serious about protecting its community... If you look out of place they will find a reason... dig?

Redmont Park

If you're spending some time in Redmont Park, Birmingham Botanical Gardens and Birmingham Zoo are top sights worth seeing.
