The hiking trails were awesome. You need to see the pair of waterfalls. The free sit down breakfast and service was outstanding. And just the cabins you stay in are amazing.
If you want a jungle experience this is it. I loved the breakfast given & Cecilia the woman that made it was so pleasant! The pool was awesome since it was natural water. At night make sure you have a headlight as there aren’t many light poles. The room is a basic cabin but it’s the outside that offers the jungle experience. However,
It’s very far from the big city but there is a small town only 10 minutes away that offer coffee tours, sloth tours and good restaurants/bakeries. Here you will experience Costa Rica like a local.
Had a nice stay in the cabins with my family. If you understand that you’re getting a cabin in the woods, you’ll be fine. We had the family cabin and was Very rustic with 4 beds in a big room. A/C worked fine and there was a mini fridge which we appreciated. Mattresses were like sleeping on boards though so would suggest they change those if possible. Other than that, it was nice and peaceful. Bonus is the hike to the waterfalls are free for guests…a must do!!

It is one step above camping. Rooms are cabin type. Do not expect typical hotel reeom.Shower buy no hot water. Grounds are nice with view of volcano.
My wife and I loved this property. 3 adults and 2 children in our group. If you are okay with simple accommodations with great service and beautiful scenery you have to stay here. Grounds were immaculate when we arrived and we were greeted with 2 Toucans as we headed to our cabin. Tons of hummingbirds flying around.
This place just felt so full of life! The hikes on the property were great. Took my 77yr old dad to the waterfall. He had no issues. We were the only ones there our first day and our family had the place to ourselves. It felt like our personal playground. Dinner and breakfast onsite was great and lots of food. Super fresh! Would highly recommend it if you're looking to be with nature! I will definitely come back!
Unfortunately it was not what I expected. My room did not include air conditioning and this was very uncomfortable for us because the mosquitoes approached us. Turning on the hot water was very uncomfortable and difficult, during the morning we did not have hot water to shower. When I booked my room I never saw that the room did not include those things. Otherwise I would pay more for a better one or I would not book it at this place. Overall the staff was very friendly and the breakfast was good.
Comfortable cabin in a bit secluded area, in the Costa Rican rainforest. We love peacefulness, quietness and close-to-nature location. Our cabin was clean, spacious, with well functional bathroom and veranda facing wall of lush green rain forest.
Tasty breakfast. The managing person is very nice, speaks no English though.
Gorgeous setting. The bathroom was not up to date and there were big gaps at the bottom of the doors. They didn't warn us that the hike was moderate to difficult.
Beautiful, serene property. Very nice host and hostess. Loved the waterfall hike. It was the highlight of our trip. We were there by ourselves and could swim. If you’re into exploring and not a resort travel style this place is fabulous. We came here from JW in Guanacaste and loved this more than the resort. Clean and comfy. Breakfast was delicious and tastefully served. Be mindful of the hike though. Not super easy. Hiking shoes , poles and certainly water shoes, towel, and water are a must.
This place was fantastic! We wanted a more off the beaten path, authentic experience and this was perfect. The staff spoke only Spanish which we so enjoyed. We don’t speak Spanish well (ok hardly at all) but with Google translate and gesturing, no problem at all.
There is a wonderful 1.5 mile (one way, 3 mile out and back) hike to a waterfall view right from their property! We saw lizards and frogs and I’m sure you could see other wildlife.
Breakfast was great and we watched beautiful birds the whole time. We saw a Tucan there!
The cabins are spread out enough that it felt very private. Even at full capacity it would t be a lot of people around.
There is a great little pool there, warm, a little bigger than a hot tub.
The town is small but has enough restaurants to choose from and at least one grocery store.
We loved Ristorante Merisqurria Poro for seafood, chicken fajitas, and nachos.
We would definitely recommend this if you want to get away from tons of tourists and all that comes with tourists. We went on way from Liberia to La Fortuna (which is way touristy but has stuff to do).

Beautiful cabins in remote mountainous area. Staff are great but no one speaks English (reminder to me to learn Spanish) so communication is difficult. I had problems checking in because I’d paid through Expedia (or thought I did) but they weren’t going to let me checkin without direct payment to them. With the language barrier this was hard to sort out until I called an intermediary. The breakfast and dinners were surprisingly good but we had no car so no access to anything for lunch. We were only there for 2 days on the last leg of our trip. We mostly enjoyed hanging out on our deck watching and listening to the numerous birds. We’d already done Rio Celeste on the way there so there wasn’t much else to do but walk around the area. Our first night was interrupted by a screaming fight by a couple in the lodge beside us. Because it was in Spanish, we had no idea what it was about but it felt scary for my daughter to hear. One of the owners interceded so it escalated but finally settled. (This is no reflection on the lodge, but the visitors). The last night I was bit about a hundred times in the bed by something. Not bed bugs, but maybe tiny red ants. Otherwise it was an adventure and pretty tranquil!
The room was very clean and the staff were very friendly. The property had a great restaurant and the trails led to an awesome waterfall.

Una experiencia mágica que nos permitió disfrutar de la flora y fauna de Costa Rica, particularmente del Perezoso. Un hotel limpio y una atención amable.
This is an excellent property for bird watching and for walking.
The property sits on the edge of mountainous rain forest and has an excellent private walking trail approx. 2.5km in length (one way) and a shorter lookout trail.
The property is quite beautiful with lots of fruit and berry trees for birds and a couple hummingbird feeders.
The staff were fine although spoke little English for the most part. Nothing Google Translate couldn't fix though.
Breakfast was decent and the cabins were pretty comfy with a few things a little on the rickety side.
The cabins were a little more expensive compared to other places we stayed but the private trail made things worth it to us.
We would recommend nature lovers to spend time here!
