"The staff were so friendly and helpful, we loved the traditional breakfast, they were accommodating to my husband who can’t eat fish. They have a courtesy bus that takes you to Arashiyama which I didn’t know and so glad they suggested. The futons are hard but I got used to them. They also said their onsen is tattoo friendly. But most of the place is in such a spectacular forest it was so pretty in the late autumn I will definitely be going back. "

"Very relaxed stay. Short walk from station or book a taxi for a small fee if you have luggage. Ruriko-in temple and Mt Hiei cable car station is very close with lots of hiking and walking trails. Dinner was very nice and staff were super friendly. Special thanks to Hotel Manager Mr Koichi and all staff for making our stay an enjoyable one."

"We loved the staff and hospitality at Momijiya. My husband said it felt like we were staying at our grandma's house. We loved the ryokan experience as well. We really felt we were getting a more intimate Japanese experience. The food really put us Americans out of our comfort zone, but we wouldn't have wanted it any other way. Our rooms were quaint with nice view, and the comforters on our futons were incredible comfortable. Like sleeping inside a warm cloud. This is a great spot to feel like you're escaping to the mountains but still getting to explore Kyoto during the day."
