"We got a warm and friendly welcome as soon as we entered the bar. Although the pub is traditional and in a perfect setting by the canal it clearly needs updating as did our room. The benches are rotting away and the exterior is in need of a general tidy up. Our room was very dated and the beds old and uncomfortable. The bathroom was an adequate size though the shower was mouldy and hardly any hot water. We had to go back to the bar area which is downstairs and outside through a courtyard area to get a remote control for the TV and teabags as there was only 1. We didn't have breakfast as we stayed over for an early morning flight from Birmingham which was very handy being only 20 mins away. We had an evening meal which was Malaysian themed but unfortunately they ran out of my choice very early and I did settle for an alternative which was freshly cooked and tasty. The staff couldn't have been more helpful or friendly but the pub itself and rooms definitely need refinishing."

"Four of us ordered food at the sports bar, 2 came with in 15 mins, then next 2 took 1hr 10. Every single time you go to the bar, they ass service to this. Everyone that was staying had to ask for it to be removed, staff were pretty miserable. Especially after asking fo the service to be removed. We were woken up at 2am and told we were been too loud, we had the tv on that’s all, not sure what else we can do there. Breakfast was chaos, far too busy. Food ran out very quickly. I heard quite a few other guests complaining about various things. Was very much looking forward to the stay, but somewhat left feeling disappointed. "

"Horrible experience. Stayed only one night despite booking two, just lying on the bed fully dressed, no sleeping so disgusting and disturbing the place was. Stink of stale cigarettes and alcohol everywhere. Traces of feces on the toilet. Dodgy activity in the hall with smell of marihuana. Party downstairs and extremely drunk people banging on the door in the middle of the night. The nest of normalised deviation at its purest. Don’t go any near to it, I felt sick for next two days of leaving this facility!!!"

"What a beautiful oasis...set in peaceful pretty surroundings. The spa was fantastic,dinner was amazing and the breakfast ..out of this world. The staff so polite and helpful. Il be back..just what I needed. "

"This hotel was totally outstanding The renovation downstairs is stunning. The rooms still need to be done. The food and staff are 10/10 I can honestly say I have never enjoyed a stay as much."

"Unacceptable. Mattresses are completely beyond their end of life. Booked two rooms and both were the same, one mattress literally had a spring coming out of it and poking into the sheet. The other had springs that would jab into your sides and crunched every time you moved. Asked for a second duvet so we could lie on top of it for extra padding, which never arrived. Car parking is extortionate at £10 per night. Many other areas in the room that are shabby a need upgrading, too many to list. Staff in the morning were apologetic and said that new beds are “on order” but didn’t seem to engage with the suggestion to buy mattress toppers for the guests in the meantime. Absolutely not a 3 star stay as advertised on Hotels.com. So for now, avoid!"
