"This lovely hotel, in the tiny, unpretentious village of Drake Bay, was wonderful. I am an amateur wildlife photographer. The manager gave me Room 1, with an enormous window that looks out onto a guarumo tree. In this tree arrived, in turn, a toucan, a pair of aracaris, tanagers, tityrus, caracaras, golden-naped woodpeckers, multiple iguanas, hummingbirds - it was simply incredible. "Tres bel endroit, personnel attentionné et très gentil, le barman et manager Mario est toujours disponible pour repondre aux questions et organiser des tours. "Really great staff who really know the area and cultivate the farm. They can give you information on ecology you won't find outside of guided tour groups in the park, and there's also yoga. The property is beautiful and it is easy to see birds. It is a pretty primitive property and so you should be expecting bug bites and no modern comforts. Bathing in rainwater is amazing, but it is also not warm. Also the ants really bite- I was itchy for a week afterward. So be careful. "

I dove with Costa Rica Dive and Surf, which left from their office in Uvita. The dive equipment was in great shape and they had multiple dive masters with us. The Cano Island dive it a sandy bottom, easy, 60 foot dive, with light to medium currents. I didn't see a ton of great stuff, but this school of fish was worth it in itself. The trip includes two dives, an island trip, snacks, lunch, all your equipment rentals, etc. $175 per person for the day. Expensive, but supposed to be one of the best dive sites in CR, so worth it if you're in the area.
