The scenery is spectacular. It is a bit remote so accessing any other restaurants is not really an option. That leaves the dining experience at the property which was beyond overpriced and mediocre. This is coming from a New Yorker who works at a hotel property. I expect over priced and mediocre. A wine list that featured the same wines and vintages at 75 percent over what other resorts are charging. The service was inattentive (again not expecting much, but perhaps ask why my meal hasn't been touched in 20 minutes). The one night I ordered grappa, they measured a 1 oz pour table side. In a grappa glass which would only allow an extra 1/2 oz anyway. We spent 200 euro for 2 courses and a bottle of wine, you can skip the etched glassware for measuring pours. It Is Tacky. Floors need to be mopped in the rooms.
We arrived around 8PM straight off a set of flights from SFO and were exhausted. We were welcomed into the bar, a beautiful, cozy room, given food and drink, and checked in there, since reception had closed. We ended up spending a couple hours chatting with another couple, the place promotes making friends.
Throughout our stay the food was terrific, breakfast on the lawn above the pool was amazing, including eggs from the farm's own chickens. The service was very friendly. Antonio offered us a tour of the wine cellar, which is actually built into an ancient well and not to be missed. Gabriela, the bartender, made a very good negroni and stayed to chat, as staff often do here.
The property is spread out over many acres of vineyards and over 100 fruit trees. Our building was the furthest from the central building and restaurant so it was very quiet. They provide a golf cart to get you around on the very rough and often unpaved roads of the estate but it is a bit hair-raising as the roads are bumpy and the staff drive very fast. We ended up just driving our own car around, which was slightly better, given the narrow, bumpy roads. We got lost repeatedly, but that was part of the fun as we always eventually got to the place we were going.
Highly recommend this place for anyone who loves beauty, great food, and terrific people.
We received a very warm welcome and excellent service at this beautifully located hotel complex. The pool was wonderful and the estate a pleasure to walk around and see the produce growing. We then enjoyed eating it too. Breakfast was excellent and we felt hugely relaxed following our stay.
Wonderful location and "eco resort" policies well implemented. Restaurant is a real highlight serving excellent dishes focused on local produce. Fine local wine selection. Slightly expensive but excellent cuisine non the less.
Sadly, construction of a new bar area was underway during our visit and the associated noises and workers trucks made a nuisance of the day. Also new rooms were being build on different areas of the expansive vineyard property which also lead to noise and inconvenience. During the night the interior wood of the room we stayed in creaked and squeaked constantly with the changing temperature and one the adjacent property guard dogs barked and barked for what seemed all 3 night of the 3 nights we stayed. It's a pity really that the peaceful environment was spoilt by the work going on and the dogs.. (welcome to Sicily) as this is a lovely place and we really like the accommodation, restaurant and the really friendly and helpful staff.
This was the nicest place we stayed at in 10 days of traveling in Sicily. Beautiful, spotless, modern room with stunning views...which ended up being perfect for us as it was pouring rain during our stay there. The fireplace made it all the more comforting! Staff was extremely accommodating and dinners were delicious!
this is a must visit hotel!!! super amazing wine, food scenery and bedrooms.
Everything is just amazing, and its so romantic!!!! definitely will go back again
Etwas abgelegen.
Wow, what a fantastic setting in which to decompress. I only had 2 nights; I wish I had had three. Amazing views and I just fantasized about a lifestyle in the country. This coming from a city boy.
