The room was small and old, the futon mattresses you use to make your bed were thin and I woke up achy every day. The staff were helpful and friendly with limited English. "We were spoilt with first class attention and assistance from Andrew, the host, and staff. It is why we like to choose an owner establishment rather than a 'marbled foyer'. A warm lounge and wine and conversation to come back to at the end of an unbelievable ski day. Love the underfloor heating! The shuttle is quick, easy and flexible. The location is great and a short walk to and from dining options. We can't wait to get back!"

"The young owners of this property are very sweet, kind and really try to be helpful. They seemed that had not quite got the hang of being proprietors, but they are very likable. Compared to other places we stayed cluttered with not quite the same and amenities. The owner was very helpful when we got stuck in snow bank during a snowstorm via messages. If you get a chance, listen to Echo play the piano "

"The staff was friendly. Upon arrival the guest gets a yukata and a key to 9 public thermal springs around the town, where he may bath freely. Note that they are extremely hot. The staff also offers a free ride to the Snow Monkey Park or Yudanaka Station in the morning."

"This hotel is a beautiful ryokan and onsen. We stayed 2 nights and really enjoyed it. We ate breakfast and dinner at the ryokan and really enjoyed the food - meals are 7 courses and food quality is top notch. We would highly recommend to anyone looking to stay in Yudanaka. They have a private onsen which we also booked so my husband and I could use the onsen together. "

Had mostly private onsen experience ie hardly anyone around for both the outdoor and indoor onsen when we visited in early April 2025. Only few minutes drive from Snow monkey carpark. Of the 9 places we stayed in Japan, was our favourite."
