"The place needs serious renovation and cleaning. It can be old, but that doesn’t mean it has to be unacceptable. The room smelled of mold, the walls were cracked, the room was dirty, there was old trash left in the trash can, the door lock was broken, and the air conditioning was brutally noisy. It was so disgusting that we ended up using our own sheets and our own pillows because we didn’t feel comfortable sleeping on what was provided. The only thing I liked was being able to park right in...

Holiday Inn Express & Suites Salem by IHG

10/10 Excellent

"Nice place"

Super 8 by Wyndham Mt. Vernon IL

10/10 Excellent

"This an older hotel but clean and it has some updates. When I first opened my door to the room, I was greeted with an overwhelming smell of bleach and cleaning products. One I turned the fan on, the room cleared. I’m happy to live with the smell considering the room was very clean! The bathroom has recently been renovated with new floors, new tile in shower and a new vanity. It was done very nicely. Shower temperature and pressure were great! The bed was comfortable and the sheets were nice. The pillows could have been a little fuller but that’s my preference. There are so many stores and restaurants near within minutes. I would definitely stay again. Great value for the price."

SureStay Hotel by Best Western Whittington Rend Lake

10/10 Excellent

"Stayed for 1 night. Room, sheets and towels were clean. This hotel is far from anything of convenience. All restaurants or stores are at least 5-8 miles away so get food on your way before you check in. I can tell that this is an independently owned hotel. Two suggestions. Buy newer towels. The towels didn’t match and they were not soft and were stiff, scratchy, and outdated. Also, I would suggest putting a locked drop box for keys at the front desk. I left out very early in the morning and there was no one at the desk. I never feel confident leaving keys just out in the open. For the price, this is a comfortable stay, it could just use some upgrades."
