Maki is a hotel ideal for first-time Valparaiso visitors who do not demand too much of their hotel. If you are interested in taking a look at Valparaiso's famous arts area with colorful and creative wall paintings, you are right in the center of it by staying at Maki. Most importantly, hotel staff speaks good English. It is also near the Valparaiso cruise terminal.

The Maki property was a hostel. My hotel option that I made 3 months before this date was cancelled last minute by the hotel Agorra in Viñ Del Mar. that room was paid for in advance. With less than 24 hours Notice Agorra cancelled leaving us stranded without a place in Chile. Expedia allowed us to change to the Hostel Maki. First it was a hostel. No longer my scene. We did have a private bathroom but the shower didn’t drain. So you stood in4-6 cm of water with each shower. The toilet seat was broken. There were holes in the wooden floor in the room. I would have never a hostel but was left with no choice after the Hotel Agorra cancelled us without any explanation and with less than 24 hours. Viña is a popular destination for NYE. The cost at the hostel Maki was over $200 US a night because of the timing. It was definitely not worth that. The staff was nice and the location convenient for Valparaiso. But we were trying to stay in Viña Del Mar. My review is to never stay at the Hotel Agorra. They are not an honorable business to take your $ and cancel last minute. The Maki is a hostel. That’s probably not the choice of anyone over 40 who is used to some level of personal comfort.

Great deal in an awesome neighborhood!

My family slept comfortably in a suite with 1 queen, 2 twin beds, and a a private bathroom. The beds were comfortable and room was clean. The hostel has a very welcoming and warm feel to it. The common area has a fully functioning kitchen and access to fridges that you can store food in. The staff are friendly and accommodating. I would highly recommend!

Grows on you.

They didn't clean the bathroom. Hair, scum, garbage, and I don't know what. Staff was friendly but slow. Nice female dorm, though! Great location.

Place is very walkable to all areas . I got the private room with bathroom and is huge and in perfect condition. I definitely recommend if you looking for a budget nice place to stay.

Thank you to the staff at Maki Hostels. I really enjoyed my time there. I love that they spoke English and it was very convenient to walk to all the major attractions in Cerro Allegre and Cerro Conception.

Way past it’s prime. Not clean.

I had the split level with two singles. The downstairs bed smelled a bit like urine. The upstairs bed was uncomfortably hot. I couldn’t stand up straight in the shower. You couldn’t pay me to stay here again. I wish I had just paid up for a decent hotel. This place is a hostel in desperate need of a deep clean and a paint job. The pluses were the service and the location.

Ambiance très chaleureuse et sympathique. Personnel très à l’écoute. Beaucoup de rencontres malgré la partie Hôtel il y a aussi la partie auberge. Peu de wi-fi en chambre mais amélioré par la suite (déplacement de la borne wi-fi spécialement pr la ch 2 que j’occupais)

Las personas de recepción eran muy amables. El hostal es sencillo, no posee estacionamiento. Hay opciones de pagar el desayuno por 6000 mil.

Súper buena atención, Miguel muy atento y amoroso. Ruidosas las cañerías de los baños en la noche y el wc de la pieza sonó toda la noche. La pieza muy cómoda, y el hostal maravilloso. Ubicación perfecta, y encontramos estacionamiento pagado muy cercano.
